Batesville Casket Company

We are pleased to offer caskets from Batesville Casket Company. The company is based in Batesville, Indiana. The quality and selection of their products is exceptional. They have been serving funeral homes and families for over 100 years.  This section will describe some of the specific features of a casket to better help you understand some of the terms that are used.

Living Memorial Tree Planting Program

Living Memorial Tree Planting Program
When a family purchases a Batesville casket, our funeral homes will arrange for a tree to be planted through Batesville's Living Memorial® program.

Since its inception in 1976, it has become a major contributor to reforestation with more than 11 million trees planted as a lasting memorial to loved ones.

With every Batesville casket, urn or cremation container purchased, Batesville’s special agreements with various government agencies arrange for a tree seedling to be planted in selected woodlands throughout the world. More than just a fitting tribute, this program provides for trees that shelter our wildlife, reduce water and wind erosion, and contribute to the purity of the air we breathe. It’s a way to honor your loved one with a lasting memorial while helping the environment.

The Living Memorial program helps ensure that future generations will know the beauty of a green planet — a lasting legacy to a life well lived.

Charpente Overlay

The Charpente interior system is a tailored framework that fastens the overlay of the interior over the casket edges for a cleaner appearance and to allow a clear view of the personalized corner selections. More of the exterior of the casket is viewable.

Memorial Record System

Each Batesville casket is equipped with a compact, leak-resistant compartment that is threaded into a corner of the casket. For any reason the casket is disentombed, the Memorial Record System is assured to stay intact, making identification much easier and less traumatic for families.

Many states, including Florida and Louisiana, now require caskets to have a means of external identification and have approved Batesville's Memory Record System for this purpose.

Natural disasters bring trying times for entire communities. No family should undergo the additional stress or trauma that is brought on by a loved one's casket being re-opened. That's why Batesville develops their products with the family's comfort and satisfaction in mind. The Memorial Record System is another reason families can rest assured their loved ones' remains are secure.

Protection from the Elements

Cathodic Protection, a Batesville exclusive, is a proven rust prevention technology which has been used for years. It is used in many industries where steel is threatened by corrosion, such as in underground pipelines, ship hulls, water tanks, ocean piers, water heaters and other steel items which are in constant contact with water and corrosive elements.

Batesville's stainless steel, 16 gauge and many 18 gauge models are enhanced with the patented cathodic process, which inhibits the formation of rust on the outer surfaces and extends the corrosion-resistance by 2.5 times.

Evans Burial Vaults

Our funeral home works together with Lancaster based, family owned and operated Evans Burial Vaults. A few options of burial vaults are constructed on site at Evans. Other options we offer are manufactured by Eagle and Clark Burial Vaults, both of these companies are in the United States of America.

Adult burial enclosures are an integral part of a proper internment. Burial enclosures can be defined as a container that enclose a casket in the grave. Their purpose is another level of protection of your loved one. The burial enclosure is placed in the grave and then the casket is lowered into the burial enclosure. Adult Burial enclosures are constructed of various materials from concrete to polystyrene, steel, galvanized steel, cooper and bronze. An adult burial enclosure provides protection to the casket and the weight of the ground. Many adult burial enclosures seal, some do not.  Below is a description about sealing properties.

The Way Vault Seals Work

By using a butyl rubber sealing compound, it hermetically bonds the V shape base and cover into a single moisture resistant unit.

Disclaimer

In most areas of the country, state, or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or burial vault will satisfy these requirements.

Our funeral home makes no representations or warranties regarding outer burial containers. The only warranties, expressed or implied, granted in connection with goods sold with this funeral service are the express written warranties, if any, extended by the manufacturers thereof. No other warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are extended by the seller.

Customized Nameplates

We offer nameplates which are adhered to burial vaults, which are available on all models of vaults beginning with the Sentinel option and above. They are able to be completely customized to meet the beliefs, hobbies and interests of your loved one. Perhaps your loved one served their country with pride, had a garden which they treasured or celebrated their ethnic heritage. Whatever they enjoyed, a plate can be fully customized to include their name, year of birth and year of death. In addition, you can include a photo, special verse, poem or quote.

A keepsake framed memorial plaque is included with the purchase of any vault from the sentinel and above. Additional keepsake plaques can be purchased for $50.00 each. Below are some actual samples.
