Obituary

Susan M. (Kamenar) LaVia, 70, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born in Harrisburg on June 3, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Peter S. Kamenar, Sr. and Genevieve (Breski) Kamenar. She was the devoted wife of the late John P. LaVia, who preceded her in death in 2017.

Susan retired as an Office Manager with Schmidt Kramer Law Firm where she was respected for her dedication and professionalism. She was a proud member of the St. Lawrence Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 13 in Steelton. Susan enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and spending time at the Delaware shore. She cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Quinn. Above all, she treasured time spent with her great nieces and nephews, delighting in taking them to the pool and local parks. She was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and cousin who will be deeply missed.

Susan is survived by her brother Peter Kamenar Jr., and his wife Jody; brother-in-law Louis LaVia and his wife Reba; sister-in-law Judith LaVia Jones and her husband Lawrence; nephew Stephen Kamenar and his wife, Danielle, and son Grayson and daughter Brooklyn; nephew Mark Kamenar and his son, Corey; Nephew Chad LaVia and his son Brandon and daughter Isabella. She is also survived by her cousins, Tina Simpson (Tom), Kaitlyn Malatestinic (Patrick), Mitch Simpson; Aunt Delores Breski, and her children, James, Frank, Michael, and Linda Kreiser; Noelle Homsher, as well as several great-great nieces and nephews.

The family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, March 5, beginning at 12:00 PM at the St. Lawrence Club, 13 Highland St., Steelton, PA 17113.

A luncheon will follow at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are entrusted to Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services
