Ruth (Brubaker) Yovanovich, 96, of Mount Joy, passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born in Mount Joy on March 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jonas E. and Naomi (Brubaker) Brubaker. She was the widow of William Z. Yovanovich, who passed away in 2022. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Naomi Stiger; and siblings Jonas Brubaker, Ben Brubaker, Naomi Rowe, Elizabeth Brubaker, and Martin Brubaker.
Ruth was a devout Christian and belonged to or attended several churches throughout her life, including St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Steelton, Steelton Mennonite Church, Kraybill Mennonite Church in Mount Joy, Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, Guilford Road Mennonite Church in MD, Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, and St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the World Day of Prayer.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting, as well as spending time reading her Bible. Most of all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Ruth is survived by her children Joanna Sishtel, Mary Berguson (Doug), M. Paul Yovanovich, Luke Yovanovich, Ray Mark Yovanovich (Tammy), Lorraine James, Ruthie Miller (Gregory), Amy Yovanovich, Nathan Yovanovich, and foster son Steve Nornhold; as well as 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a larger extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Burial is private and at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Ruth’s life will take place at 12:30 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026 at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, 2453 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, with Rev. Dr. Richard C. Bauer, Rector, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Edward’s Episcopal Church at the address above, or at www.steds.org
