Ronald J. Kable, Jr. 67 of Highspire, passed away at home on September 20, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, just two days shy of his 68th birthday. He was the son of Louise Conjar and Ronald J. Kable Sr. and was proudly born and raised on the “West Side” of Steelton.

He was the loving husband of Cindy Kable (Crum), with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Moe was the proud father of 4 children Jason (Debbie), Adrienne Albert (Josh), Jeremy, and Adeniyi Amadou and grandfather of Julianna Kable, Amelia, Addison, and Aiden Albert. He is also survived by his siblings, Ronda (Ed), Rose, Laura, Beth and Kevin (Lauren), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sam Kable.

He dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He began his firefighting career in 1977 with the West Side Hose Company and became a lifelong member of Steelton Fire Company, Company 50, where he most recently served as a Board of Director and President of the Relief Association. Moe attended Steelton-Highspire High School. He also spent 30 years with Lipton, later Unilever Company, retiring as an Assistant Plant Manager.

His greatest passion outside of family and the firehouse was basketball. He began coaching at Palmyra High School and later coached at Steel-High alongside Coach Rick Binder, including with the 1998 and 2000 state championship teams. He devoted countless summers to coaching and mentoring the youth of Steelton-Highspire, taking young players to tournaments and summer leagues and leaving as champions! His dedication to the community’s youth was recently recognized when he was honored as a Hometown Hero by the Steelton Borough.

When he wasn't coaching, he loved cooking, feeding others, cruising, and trips to the Jersey Shore. But above all else, his four grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life. He loved them more than anything.

Moe was born to battle from day one, fighting fires, competing on the basketball court, and finally fighting a terrible disease. He lived life to the fullest and fought until his very last breath. The family extends its deepest gratitude to Serenity Hospice and his care team, Acacia and Tanae, for their compassion and support. Additionally, the family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and entire staff at Johns Hopkins and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and dedication they showed throughout his journey.

A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. Burial will follow at Highspire Cemetery. A Viewing will be held in the funeral home prior to service from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Steelton Fire Company, in his memory. The family is deeply grateful to Company 50 for their love and support throughout this journey.
