Romaine Elizabeth (Wilsbach) Young, 93, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Scott Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland, FL. Born in Steelton, PA on June 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Popp) Wilsbach. She was the loving wife of her husband, Harry Young. They were married in 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Steelton, PA, sharing 71 wonderful years of marriage together. She was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Nagy, and Marilyn Borata; and one brother, Lawrence Wilsbach.

Romaine graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1950. She worked for several years as Head Secretary at the former Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown, supervising over 25 secretaries in a typing pool. She also worked as the Parish secretary for Saint James Catholic Church and later as a Salesperson for Home Interiors and Gifts. As a Navy wife, she had the toughest job in the Navy and was a full-time expert homemaker and loving mother to her two boys. She was the President of the Officer’s Wives Club at Naval Air Station, Key West. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Steelton, where she regularly did the readings at Mass, a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Steelton, and St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Sebastian, Florida. Romaine enjoyed the beach, travelling, playing cards and always loved having fun with family and friends. She enjoyed travelling the country in her recreational vehicle and loved playing roulette – she was very lucky. Romaine had a vivacious and bubbly personality, and she brought joy to many.

Romaine is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Harry Minsker Young; her sons, Dan Young and his wife Sarah, and Mark Young and his wife Jennifer; her grandchildren Matthew Young, Mary Grace Guffey, and Andrew Young; her great-grandchildren Jacob Young, Harrison Young, and Iris Guffey; and her brother, Jacob Wilsbach; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in Prince of Peace- Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S 2nd Street, Steelton, PA 17113, with Rev. Matthew J. Larlick celebrating. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A Viewing will take place from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg Street in Oberlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
