Obituary

Richard Eli Bazdar, of Oberlin, died Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at home. He was born November 6, 1948 in Harrisburg, the son of Joseph and Betty Bazdar. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bonnet, his sister Kay Eppinger, step-son Alden Wenger (Jenn Grant), “chosen” daughter Mangau, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Mary Ann (Orth) Bazdar.

Rick was a proud graduate of Penn State and served many years at Swatara Township in Building & Code Enforcement. His many hobbies included woodworking, stained glass, photography, model trains, and dog training. He and Mary Ann spent many years training and showing dogs (Borzoi) and visiting hospitals and nursing homes with their therapy dogs. He was a member of Paxton Presbyterian Church. He was dearly loved.

Burial will be private. A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon St., Harrisburg, PA 17111. A Visitation with light refreshments will take place in the church prior to service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Paxton Presbyterian Church at the address above.
