Raymond J. Patackis

Raymond J. Patackis, 83, of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, June 30 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Zemaitis) Patackis. He was the loving husband of Rita (Babkowski) Patackis, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Raymond was a 1965 graduate of King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. He went on to serve his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War before returning and earning his master’s degree from Shippensburg University. He worked for the US Dept of Labor until his retirement.

Raymond was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church. He also served on the Paxtang Borough Council and was a member of VFW Post 148 in Harrisburg and the American Legion Post 998 in Lawnton. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and was a skilled handyman. He loved taking walks with his wife and travelling. Most of all he loved his family; he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all.

In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his children Jeffrey Patackis and his wife Shannon of Mechanicsburg, Christopher Patackis and his wife Bonnie of Harleysville, and Suzanne Leopold and her husband Robert of Lemoyne; and his grandchildren Ella, Brady, Connor, Cameron, and Reid. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Patackis and William Patackis; and sisters Dorothy Frank, Ann Patackis, and Irene Patackis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025 in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg PA 17111. A Visitation will be held in the church prior to service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
