Paul Francis Kasper, 80, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Arden Courts of Susquehanna. Born in Putnam, CT on December 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Walter and Laurette (Bachand) Kasper. He was the husband of the late Mary (Slade) Kasper, who preceded him in death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kathryn Brennan and Jeanne Ulwelling, and 1 stepson, Terry Herr.
Paul enlisted in the Army at age 18 and proudly served as a medic in the US Army in South Korea, during the time of the Vietnam War. Following his service, he began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, working as a Mail Carrier in Hershey and retiring after 44 years. During this time, he received multiple commendations and recognition for driving 1 million miles without an accident.
Paul was a member of the Lion’s Club and the Harrisburg Bicycle Club. In his spare time, he was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed bicycling, travelling, his annual hunting trips, attending Hershey Bears games and art collecting. Most important to him were his family, especially nieces and nephews, and lending support to veteran causes. Every year, at Christmas time, Paul felt proud to take part in ‘Wreaths Across America’, a national organization that honors those that served, by placing wreaths at veteran gravesites.
Paul is survived by his sister, Christine Weinand and her husband Timothy of Marietta, GA; his loving companion, Carol Damico; and his stepson Thomas Herr and his husband Terry Hamilton; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a devoted brother, companion and uncle who will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care teams at Arden Courts, Sarah’s Home Care Services, and AccentCare Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Paul.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. Burial will follow at Churchville Cemetery. A Visitation will be held in the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org. This organization honors and supports veterans, first responders, wounded heroes, families of the fallen, and those enduring invisible wounds.
