Patricia J. (McLaughlin) Nettling

Patricia “Pat” Jean Nettling, age 95, of the Phoebe Berks Community, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025. Born in Steelton, Pennsylvania, in 1930, Patricia was the daughter of the late Hazel and Herman W. McLaughlin, Sr.; and sister to Herman “Mick” W. McLaughlin, Jr.

Pat was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward George Nettling, who passed in 2016.

Pat spent many years of her youth living with her beloved aunt and uncle, Beatrice T. Tuptanoski Wendal and Albert C. Wendal.

Pat is survived by her daughter Gretchen Patti, son-in-law David, and grandson William Edward Patti. She is also remembered by her nieces, Diane M. Arbogast (Robert) and Denise M. DeSalle (James) and nephew Daniel A. Nettling; and Linda Nettling, widow of nephew John Thomas Nettling who preceded her in death. She had many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, Pat spent several years caring for others in the hospital's polio and infectious diseases wards. She later worked for Easter Seals Society of Harrisburg as an early intervention specialist. She was an ardent Girl Scout leader in the Hemlock Council. As she approached 60, Pat furthered her education by graduating from Elizabethtown College, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and growth.

Pat will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others will be remembered fondly. She was a long-time and active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Colonial Park, Pennsylvania.

There is no viewing or visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. A committal service and inurnment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Oberlin

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the John & Karen Arnold School of Nursing, Alvernia University, located at 400 Saint Bernardine Street, Reading, PA 19607; or to a charity of your choice in her memory.
