Mary Marie Petrasic

Mary M “Marie” Petrasic, 91, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Steelton and Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her caregivers at Bethany Village.

Marie was born in Steelton, PA to John and Magdalene Petrasic on May 24, 1933. She was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. Following graduation, she was employed by BellSouth for her entire career until her retirement.

Marie was an avid reader, loved to travel, and was passionate about nature, especially when it came to watching the birds outside her windows. She loved everything “Snoopy” and all the Peanuts characters and collected just about anything that had Snoopy on it. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, music, and daily walks in the neighborhood. She had a beautiful smile and was liked by all who knew her. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill.

Marie is survived by nieces and nephews Kathy Green (Mike Rother), Ellen Friberg (Doug), Chris Green (Kathy), Jeff Green, Jenny Coyne (Pat), Karen Green, Aimee Green (Brian Whitmore), as well as 25 great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by lifelong friends Mary and Joe Ponti. Marie was preceded in death by her parents John and Magdalene Petrasic, sister Dorothy (Dottie) Green and brother-in-law Leland Green.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan, Officiating. Burial at the conclusion of the services will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Family members would like to thank John Bowen, Robin Moore and all the Bethany Village staff and community for their kindness, support and caring environment provided to Marie for so many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Marie’s name to Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 3435 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA, 17011.
