Mary Patricia Cain age 69 of Harrisburg, PA, passed away on August 14, 2026. She was born in Harrisburg on March 14, 1957.
Mary attended Holy Family Grade School and Bishop McDevitt High School- class of ‘75. She worked for the Pennsylvania State Department of Education- Teacher Certification and Adult Education until her retirement.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church until its closure where she was a Eucharistic minister, assisting with bingo, 40 hours dinners. She was the recording secretary for the church council and a member of the Mary Maids. She was currently a parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Steelton where she volunteered for Mary’s Helpers food pantry and helped with the Christmas bazaar. She also volunteered at the St. Francis soup kitchen. She loved being a service to those in need, whether they were strangers who needed a meal or a friend that was in need- she always put others first.
She enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows, traveling and exploring new places, family walks with Kelly and Angel, cooking and baking for friends and family- brightening their holidays with sweet treats and boilo and spending time with her loved ones. Mary was one of a kind, her generosity was always present and her kindness was unmatched.
Waiting for her were her parents, Martin and Elizabeth Cain; her aunt, Lois White; beloved friends and her Westie dogs.
Missing her are her brother, Frank Cain; her niece Kelly Perez; her nephews, Angel Perez, Jared Brackbill, and Brennan Brackbill. As well as her friends and church community.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Prince of Peace- Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S 2nd St, Steelton, PA 17113, with Very Rev. Philip Burger celebrating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A Viewing will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish at the address above, or at www.popsteelton.org
