Joseph Paul Egresits 82, of Harrisburg, went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 25, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday June 4 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg. Following mass, burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors at 1:00pm. Visitation will be immediately prior to the mass from 10:00am to 11:00am.
Joseph was born on July 5, 1943, and grew up on the West Side of Steelton, PA. He was the son of Joseph Rudolph and Anna S. Sovich Egresits. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1962 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Policeman. He served in the U.S. and abroad, earning an honorable discharge in 1968. His time in uniform was a source of pride and a defining chapter of his life. Following his military service, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police, and served until his retirement.
Joseph married Crystallein Ann Shirk in June 1969 in Harrisburg. Together, they shared a marriage filled with love for 57 years.
Joseph attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1718, Penbrook, and a member of American Legion Post 730, Penbrook. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, fisherman, and hunter. He also took great pride in his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Crystallein; children: Joseph and his wife Tara, David and his wife Barbara, and Lisa (Herzing) and her husband Jacob, and his grandchildren Hayes, Addison, Madison, Riley, Jane, and Calvin. He will be missed by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
