John David Rice, Jr., 38, passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2026. Born on April 2, 1987, John was a beloved father, son, fiancé, brother, uncle, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Teri Dietrich; his stepfather, Todd Dietrich; and his father, John Rice, Sr. John was a proud and loving father to his four beautiful children, Kadin, Karson, Ariana, and Avery, who meant everything to him. He also leaves behind his fiancé, Elisa Batista, who shared his life.
John was a cherished brother to Lynnea (Ed) Masterstefone and a proud uncle to Hailie, Van, and Jadyn. He will also be dearly missed by his uncle Chuck (Cyndi), his cousins, and many close friends who were like family to him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Barry Seidel, Judy (Burger) Doutrich, and Rita (Palmer) Rice.
John grew up in Harrisburg and attended Dauphin County Vo-Tech. He was a skilled auto mechanic who took pride in his work and was always willing to help someone out.
He loved his family more than anything and really cherished the time he got to spend with them—especially camping and family cookouts, where he was known as the grill master. John lived life on the edge, with passion and excitement, enjoying fast cars and motorcycles, but he also found happiness in the simple things—bowling, fishing, and spending time with the people he loved most.
He was a good friend to many—someone you could count on if you needed help or just wanted to hang out, have a few beers, and enjoy each other’s company.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. A Visitation will take place in the funeral home prior to service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services at the address above to offset funeral expenses.
John’s love for his children, his family, and his friends will never be forgotten.
