James R. Deibler, Jr., a respected educator, coach, mentor, and devoted family man, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jim was raised in Steelton, where he developed the values of hard work, leadership, and service that would define his life.

Jim dedicated his life's work to education and the development of young people. As a lifelong educator, he impacted countless students throughout his distinguished career. He served as Principal of Steelton-Highspire High School while also leading the school's football program as Head Coach. His commitment to students extended well beyond the classroom walls, as he believed athletics were an extension of education, teaching discipline, character, teamwork, and perseverance. He also enjoyed many successful years coaching football at John Harris High School, where he earned the respect and admiration of players, fellow coaches, and the broader community.

Throughout his career, Jim's greatest pride was helping shape the futures of young men and women. Whether in the classroom, the principal's office, or on the football field, he dedicated himself to helping others realize their potential. His influence can still be seen in the generations of students and athletes who carried his lessons into their own lives and careers.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie Hall Deibler, beloved parents, Kathryn Padjen Deibler and James Robert Deibler Sr. (Pistol Pete), his son, Robert Deibler; his siblings, Bonnie Wadsworth and Barry Deibler; brother-in-law Theodore Cvizic and his first wife and mother of Jamie, Rob, Kim and Corey, Karen Shaffner Deibler.

He is survived by his children, James Deibler (Kristin); Corey Deibler (Nicole) and Kim Deibler. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Holli Senior (Justin Orris) and JT Senior.

Jim leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Jared, Olivia, Devon (Martel), Kassidy, Sophie, Greyson, Juliet, Cole, Jade, Jaxson (Courtney), Jacob, Kannon and Kenley, and Wrenley.

He is also survived by his sister, Lucinda Cvizic (Theodore), niece Lori Deibler, great niece Morgan Purdy, nieces Hali Confer and Jill Confer, nephew Barry Lopatic along with their children and numerous extended family members, former students, players, colleagues, and friends. Jim will be deeply missed by the hundreds of lives he touched throughout his decades of service as an educator and coach.

His legacy will endure not only through his family but through the many students and athletes who benefitted from his guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in their ability to succeed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. A Visitation will take place in the funeral home prior to service from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Deibler (Jim and Rob) Scholarship Award Foundation, helping future students pursue the opportunities that Jim and Rob both valued so deeply. This award honors more than achievement in the classroom. It celebrates the dedication and service that create a lasting impact in the lives of others.
