Obituary

James Matthew Cibort, 80, of Harrisburg, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Jim was born in Harrisburg in 1945 to Eli L. and Anna Ritrievi Cibort, and grew up in Bressler, PA. Jim was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and went to St. Mary’s Catholic School, and graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1963. Jim owned and operated Jim Cibort’s Garage in Steelton successfully for 29 years, working hard to help support his family. Jim and his father were “river rats”, both members of the Tri-County Boat Club and established residents on Hill Island. “Relax” wasn’t in Jim’s vocabulary, and he could often be found helping neighbors on the island with projects.

Jim was preceded in death by parents Eli L. and Anna Ritrievi Cibort, and is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-five years, Susan, daughters Karen and Katie, along with their husbands Jason and Ryan, and two grandchildren, Anna Grace and Jonas James. He is also survived by his brother Joe and sister Joanne, along with a large extended family.

Jim did not want services at this time. The Ciborts would like to thank family, friends and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Hospice of Central PA or the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
