James Robert Brillinger, Jr., 52, of Harrisburg, passed away at home on Monday, February 2, 2026. Born in East Pennsboro, he was the son of James Robert Brillinger, Sr. and the late Linda Louise (Balchunas) Brillinger.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Paxtang Borough. As a youth he was a member of the Lenker Manor Swim Club Swim Team, was an active member of the Boy Scouts, and played football at Swatara Jr High. During this time, he formed friendships that lasted throughout his life and carried him through thick and thin. Jim graduated from Central Dauphin East High School in 1991. Soon after he joined the Navy and was stationed at Puget Sound for two years. After the Navy, he obtained IT certifications and worked for IBM and RiteAid. He later went on to obtain a CDL license and was a long-time driver for FEDEX and UPS. Jim loved the outdoors and found great pleasure in fishing and was an avid gun enthusiast. He was a lifetime member of Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers and was an active member at the Carlisle Gun Club. Jim found enjoyment riding his motorcycles and hanging with his friends. He was a dedicated son providing daily care for his parents in their senior years. Jim was truly a beloved son and brother.
In addition to his father, James is survived by his sister Laura Lewis and her husband William Lingle; nephew Ereno Lewis and wife Chelsea Sutton; niece Erica Lewis and husband Raif Watts; and great-nephew Ennio Lewis. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Ereno Lewis.
A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at the Penn Harris Gun Club 205 Richardson Road Middletown on April 4, 2026 from 1-3 pm. Private burial at Mt. Rose Cemetery in York, PA will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area at www.humanesocietyhbg.org
