Henry M. Flamini, age 93, passed away peacefully at Kindred Place at Harrisburg on Monday, November 18. Born October 27, 1931, he was the son of the late Fortunato Flamini and Rose (Maff) Flamini.
Henry spent most of his career working in the Accounting office of the Steelton-Highspire Railroad. In his retirement, he worked part-time at the Penn State capital campus, in the food services department, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed.
If there is one thing that his family and friends knew about Henry , it was that he was Penn State's biggest fan. He and Rosemary were long-time members of the Nittany Lion Club. From cheering at football games both home and away, to attending basketball games and other events on campus, they showed their support of Penn State all year long. He was a weekly caller into the THursday night radio "call-in" show with Coach Joe Paterno in the 1980's and 90's.
Henry was also an avid runner who loved the outdoors. He would run the hills in Steelton and entered many 5K and 10K races. His love of running brought him great happiness. In addition to running, you could always find Henry on the dance floor. If there was music playing, then he was dancing. From polka to rock and roll to waltz, Henry had all of the moves and encouraged everyone to get out there and dance with him.
But the greatest joy that Henry found in life was being surrounded by his family He never missed any opportunity to spend time with his children and especially his grandchildren, and was eager to tell everyone he met how proud he was of all of them. He touched everyone's lives and he will be remember fondly by all.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife Rosemary, sister Marian, brother Joseph, brother Anthony, and brother Frank. Surviving are his son Frank and wife Valerie of Camp Hill, daughter Ellie and husband Kane (Smeltz) of Harrisburg; grandson Michael and granddaughters Hannah, Lydia, and Amelia; sister-in-law Yvonne Rodgers, sister-in-law Elizabeth Rodgers; and brother-in-law Jim Griffiths; as well as several nieces and nephews.
