Francis S. "Frank" Barbato

Francis Sylvester Barbato (Frank), 86, of Middletown, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 16, 2025 at The Middletown Home in Middletown, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rena Barbato and his sister, Patricia Bell of Carteret, NJ.

Francis was the first New Year's baby born on January 01, 1939 in Perth Amboy, NJ and he resided in Carteret, NJ.

He was a devoted husband of 62 years and survived by his wife, Patricia Barbato of Middletown, PA. Patricia loved and adored Francis- the two were inseparable.

Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was survived by his four children; Susan Barbato of Denville, NJ, Michael Barbato married to Robin Barbato of Ocean Springs, MS, Denise married to Steve McGovern of Middletown, PA, and Robert Barbato of Danville, VA.

He was loved and looked up to by his six grandchildren Sarah, Dustan, Matthew, Anthony, Sean, Madalyne, and two great-grandchildren Ryder and Josey.

As a Veteran of the US Air Force, Francis served with honor and integrity from 1957-1961. Francis was also an active Air Force reservist 1962-1963. Francis was a Jet Engine Mechanic stationed at Loring Air Force base, Maine and honorably discharged.

He attended Newark College of Engineering and was employed by ExxonMobil Corporation for 34 years as a Senior Consultant/Systems Analyst, Florham Park, NJ, Houston, TX, and Aruba.

After retirement from ExxonMobil, he was also a consultant to American Express, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Francis was also a member of Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, Port Charlotte, FL. and webmaster for the Punta Gorda Boat Club in Punta Gorda, FL.

Francis was a man of wisdom, generosity and resiliency. May his soul find peace, and may those whose lives he touched always honor his memory by living with the same love that he showed. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and love.

He instilled knowledge and hard-work to his children and displayed warmth and benevolence to all.

He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, role model, super-hero and best friend.

Francis' hobbies included spending time with family, fishing, gardening and keeping up to date on the latest computer technology and coding programs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 in Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 280 N Race Street, Middletown, PA 17057, with Rev. Timothy Sahd, Pastor, celebrating. Burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery is private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
