E. Lorraine Swope

E. Lorraine Swope entered into eternal rest at her home on July 18, 2023 at the age of 89. Lorraine was born on September 2, 1933 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edith Hoffman, and her husband Edward Swope.

She is survived by her four children; Edward Swope (wife Judy), Donna Kelly (husband Dennis), Cynthia Harper, and Katerina Di Raddo (husband David); a sister Donna Brodnick (husband Robert); eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a classically trained child-prodigy musician from ages 4 to 19 that led to her performing at the Harrisburg Forum, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Grand Olde Opry alongside such stars as Hank Williams, Sr., Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, 101 Ranch Boy, The Rhythm Rascals and the Sons of the Pioneers. She then graduated in 1951 from Swatara Township High School.

Ed and Lorraine were married on April 26, 1952, and enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Ed''s passing in 2015. Lorraine was a charter member of Remnant Life Church, New Cumberland and served for many years in local churches in both music and women''s ministries. She was employed as a school secretary at Swatara High School, a part-time teller at PNC Bank while she raised her children and retired in 2009 as the office manager of the Staub, Suden, and Kreiner dental practice.

A public memorial service to honor her life will be held on Friday, August 25, 6:00 p.m. at The Susquehanna Club, located at the end of Ross Ave. New Cumberland. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. David W. Di Raddo, Lorraine''s pastor and son-in-law. A private interment will be held for the immediate family at a later date. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Oberlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund in her honor. Donations should be made out to Remnant Life Church with E. Lorraine Swope Memorial Fund on the memo line. Please send to 26 Circle Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. All proceeds will be used to assist the family.
