Obituary

Doris Nell (Keiter) McCreary, 83, of Harrisburg passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Capital Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Born in Steelton on August 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Hewitt Clyde Myers Keiter and Doris Prowell (Fortney) Keiter. She was the widow of the late Lester Ervin McCreary, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1986.

Doris graduated from Steelton-Highspire High School with the class of 1960 and was a proud supporter of the Steel High Steamrollers her entire life. She attended Linglestown Church of God and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and loved all animals. She was known for her sense of humor and generous spirit. She loved talking on the phone and deeply cherished her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Doris is survived by her children Barbara Ann (McCreary) Ferster and her husband John, and Lester Ervin McCreary, Jr. and his wife Penny; grandchildren JD Ferster, Ben Ferster, Rachel McCreary Delgado (Lucas), Martin McCreary (Hannah), Clark McCreary (Nicole), Colton McCreary, and Courtney McCreary Kempfer (Will); and great-grandchild Eliana Delgado.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA. Burial will follow at Churchville Cemetery. A Viewing will be held in the funeral home prior to service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
