Diane Bashist

Diane (Martchek) Bashist, 77, of Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 at UPMC West Shore Hospital. Born in Braddock, PA on December 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sophie (Ciarkowski) Martchek.

Diane was a dedicated operating room nurse for more than 30 years, In her retirement, she enjoyed various leisure activities such as dominoes, going to classes at the gym with her neighborhood friends, reading, going to movies, and traveling. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and will be deeply missed by all.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Lisa Idrovo and husband Javier of Harrisburg; her grandchildren Justin, Olilia, Nicholas, and Daniella; her brother Ken Martchek and his wife Jen of Wexford, PA; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, PA. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A Visitation will be held in the funeral home prior to service from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
