Denny was the 2nd generation President and Owner & Funeral Director of Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association; Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association; Past President and member of the Dauphin County Funeral Directors Association; Past Chairman of the Board of SecurChoice, a trust division of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association; Past Board member of the former Mellon Bank; served as a consultant for Volunteer Training for Hospice of Central Pennsylvania; Former Assistant Fire Chief and life member of the Steelton Volunteer Fire Department and Dauphin County Fireman’s Association; member of the Steelton Italian Club; former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #382; Train Collectors Association; and Lionel Train Collectors Association.

He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School, class of 1963 and received his associate degree in business administration from Temple University. He then continued his education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1967 and after serving his apprenticeship, became a Pennsylvania Licensed Funeral Director. He also served in the United States Army Reserves.

He was deep rooted in his Catholic faith and was a member of the former St. James Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, where he served on its Advisory Council. He is a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton.

Dennis is the son of the late Margaret E. (Houseal) Wiedeman & Joseph A. Wiedeman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Falcone) Wiedeman; daughter Lisa M. Wiedeman & significant other, Kenneth L. Artman, Jr, Hershey; and was the proudest Poppy to his grandson, Cooper Dennis Wiedeman-Krosnar. He is also survived by nephews Joseph J. Wiedeman, Gregory Wiedeman & wife Bridget Shannon Wiedeman; niece, Pamela Wiedeman & husband Dave Weaver; and great nieces Abby & Tessa Wiedeman; cousins Debra Houseal Trimmer & husband Tom and Barry Houseal. He never forgot the names of the families he was privileged to serve. He took great pride in being there for grieving families in their greatest time of need and walking the path towards healing with them. Denny was most happy when he was seated by the ocean in Stone Harbor, NJ, watching the waves go by, walking to the point, enjoying Springer’s Ice Cream or a slice of Mackrone’s Pizza, playing his favorite games and chatting with Bobby at Bobby Dee’s Arcade on the Wildwood Boardwalk or simply relaxing at his home away from home in Stone Harbor, NJ and sharing time with his Stone Harbor Neighbors – the 94th Street Gang . He was also an avid collector of Lionel Trains. He was extremely proud of his Steelton roots and his commitment to community was second to none.

Denny loved his grandson Cooper with an incredible deep love. They enjoyed sharing DOTS Candy together, ice cream, pizza, playing Legos and puzzles when Cooper was young and lots of laughter and support and teaching was shared between them. There was a special, unique bond between Poppy and Cooper.
