Obituary

Cherubina Theresa “Dolly” (Cortopassi) Swartz, 94, of Middletown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 9, 2026. Born at home on Allison Hill in Harrisburg on October 31, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Modesto and Carmella (Magnelli) Cortopassi. She was the loving wife of the late Dale M. Swartz, who passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Felich, Modesto, and Rose Marie; and her great-grandson Blake.

Cherubina worked for Dauphin County for over 30 years with District Justices Shue, Zozos, and Solomon until her retirement at age 74. Prior to that, she had been employed at Penn National Insurance. She also worked part-time for Mantango’s Candies.

Cherubina was known by several nicknames: Mom-Mom, Cherub, Dolly, and most recently Cherry. In her spare time, she would be found socializing. Her last years were spent at the Middletown Home where she enjoyed all the staff and residents and made many lifelong friends. She looked forward to all the outings they went on together. She enjoyed listening to music (mostly Kenny Rogers), Bingo, reading, coloring, and playing games with “the girls.” In her younger years, she enjoyed taking bus trips and going to the Italian Club. She was also known for her delicious pizelles and snowballs and passed her recipes down to younger generations. Now and then she enjoyed a good glass of wine. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Her daughters and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Cherubina is survived by her devoted daughters, Georgi Sinsabaugh and Jennifer Swartz; her seven grandchildren Heather Sinsabaugh, Hollie Hawkins (Eric), Caitlin Brown, Sarah Deremer (Jordan), Arianna Brown, Mark Brown and Cassidy Swartz; three great-grandchildren Emmah Hawkins, Kiah Deremer, and Easten Hawkins; her sister Sandra Stoner (Richard); and sister-in-law Nancy Cortopassi; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg St, Oberlin, PA 17113. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A Viewing will be held in the funeral home prior to service from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM.
