Obituary

Catherine T. Messick, 86 of Lower Swatara Twp., died Thursday, January 8, 2026 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Catherine was born on November 9, 1939 to the late Charles & Mary Morris. She was preceded in death by husbands, Anthony F. Tezak & Ronald E. Messick, her brother, Bob Morris and sister, Sister Virginia Morris.

She was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown.

Cathy volunteered as a Paramedic & member of the Auxiliary of Lower Swatara Fire Department. She will be remembered by many as their former Girl Scout Leader. Cathy was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed bowling, golfing and doing ceramics. Some of her happiest days were spent as a loving Grandma Day Care to her grandkids.

Catherine is survived by her sister, Carol Rife (Reg); her children, Theresa Tezak-Reid, Annie Shaver, Christina Everidge (Jeffrey), Anthony Tezak (Pam) and Nicholas Tezak; seven grandchildren, Stephen Reid, Andrew Martin, Daniel Reid, Nicholas Tezak, Jr., Zachery Everidge, Michaela Holland, Lucas Everidge; four great-grandchildren, Amiya, Tessa, Teagan and Max; as well as several nieces & nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 am in Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 280 North Race Street, Middletown. There will be no viewing or visitation and a private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Oberlin.
