Family Owned and Operated...We Care
We treasure our loved ones, and when they leave us in death-
Thumbies are uniquely personal keepsakes, fashioned in precious metal from a fingerprint of your loved one. They are created using a process that combines modern scanning technology with the ancient are of cire perdue or lost wax casting. Cire perdue was developed thousands of years ago by Eqyptian artists and sculptors to create extraordinary detail in copper, gold, and bronze works of art. The basic technique is still used today.
Our funerallhome will capture several fingerprints of your loved one. If we are not handling services for your loved one, you will have to provide us with their fingerprint. For young children whose prints are very fine, our funeral home will capture the entire hand or foot.
Please note, that Thumbie's can be used for any member of your family, living or deceased. If you wish to celebrate the birth of your child, you may also order Thumbies to commemorate this event.
We then send off the captured prints to artisans who in turn scan the one with the
most detailed life lines, arches, or loops. From this high-
Thumbie charms come in sterling silver and in 14k yellow or white gold. They are
available in two sizes (standard and grand) and birthstones or diamonds may be added.
Tie tacs, lapel pins, cuff links, earrings, pins, and key chains can also be created
from the basic Thumbie charms. Matching 18" chains are available and you can have
your charm soldered onto a double-
Thumbies make wonderful remembrances. These keepsakes are as unique as your loved one, and while they can never replace his or her touch, they often provide comfort to the wearer. Thumbies are also a special way to mark anniversaries and events that are important to your family.
It is also important to note that even if you are unsure or unable to order at this time, it is essential to capture the prints of your deceased loved one now for possible future use. Then the scanned prints are saved electronically, additional or replacement keepsakes may be ordered through your funeral director at any time in the future. Thumbies are keepsakes to be treasured now and passed on for generations to come. Contact us for more information.
