Jim is a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, class of 1973 and received his Associates Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and furthered his education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1979. He began his employment with the Wiedeman Funeral Home in 1973 and became a licensed funeral director in 1980.
Jim was born and raised in Steelton, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Lower Swatara Township with his wife Joy L. (Uhler) Taljan. He is the son of William S. and Margaret A. Manerie Taljan and has a brother Gregory Taljan, two sisters, Louise M. Taljan Szobocsan and Lisa Taljan.
He is a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg; the National Funeral
Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and he is currently
the Secretary-
In his spare time, Jim enjoys gardening, interior decorating and collecting firehouse memorabilia.
