In Loving Memory....

Michael A. “Packey” DeFilippo, 71, of Harrisburg, died Monday, January 16, 2012 in Select Specialty Hospital at Polyclinic, Harrisburg.


He was a retired Teacher for the Steelton-Highspire High School with 31 years of service, where he served as Athletic Director for several years.  He was a part time realtor for Century 21 Real Estate, a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School Class of 1958 and Millersville University Class of 1965.


He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Swatara Twp. and the Steelton Italian Club.


Packey was the son of the late Onofrio and Giustina LiBrandi DeFilippo and is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Harriet L. Gross DeFilippo; two daughters, Maria J. DeFilippo of Harrisburg and Susan D. Cruz and her husband, Crescencio of Harrisburg; his beloved granddaughter, Cristina; one brother, Alfred DeFilippo of Steelton; two sisters, Evelyn DeVito of Long Branch, NJ and Angelina Monzaney of Mechanicsburg.  He was preceded in death by four  brothers, Frank, Eligio, Adolph, and Marino DeFilippo, Sr. and a sister, Rhoda Acri.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan, his Pastor, as celebrant.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.  A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6:30 until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton.  Recitation of the Rosary Tuesday at 8:00 pm.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
