George J. Zerance, 88, of Harrisburg and formerly of Steelton, died Monday, March 22, 2010 in Harrisburg Hospital .

George was born September 4, 1921 in Steelton, son of the late Joseph and Anna Sostar Zerance. He retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center , Mechanicsburg and was a graduate of the former Steelton High School Class of 1939, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Swatara Twp., St. Catherine Coffee Cup, St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13 Croatian Fraternal Union, Steelton Italian Club, 50+ Club and Guys and Dolls Senior Club.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Reich Zerance; a daughter, Kristin Ferretti and her husband, Louis of Williamstown, NJ; a son, Dennis G. Zerance and his wife, Kate of Hagerstown, MD; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:15 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan, his Pastor, as celebrant. Private burial will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery . At the request of Mr. Zerance, there will be no viewing or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.
