Fred Nicholas John Starasinic


Fred Nicholas John Starasinic, 72, of East Pennsboro Twp., died Saturday, April 10, 2010 in his home.

Fred was a retired Professional Civil Engineer for PennDot with 40 years of service. He was the former manager of Catholic Cemeteries for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg.

Fred was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School Class of 1955, Catholic University in Washington , DC and received his Masters Degree in Engineering from Villanova University .

He was a member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick and St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42, KSKJ.

Fred will long be remembered as an avid Notre Dame fan, Red Sox fan and Eagles fan.

Fred leaves behind his loving wife Carol J. Zeigler Starasinic; his son, Garrett Xavier Starasinic and his wife, Rhae of Gales Ferry, CT; his four grandchildren, Nicholas John and Ava Catherine Starasinic and Ryan Gregory and Justyn Jaymes Sheline; his brother, Rudy Starsinic and his wife, Joanne of Newburyport, MA; his sister, Karen Wagner and her fiancé, Len Yoder of Harrisburg; his sister-in-law, Joyce Horner and her husband, Don of Bressler; his brothers-in-law, Frank Zeigler and his wife, Diane of Bressler and Clyde Zeigler of Steelton.

Fred will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his honesty and integrity. Everyone who knew Fred, loved him, especially his nephew, Patrick Horner and his wife, Lenore and their children, Patrick “Little Man” Horner, Jr. and Lianna Horner; his niece, Lisa MacRae and nephew, Mark Wagner, his friends, Marty and Maryann Coan, John and Dorothy Reilly, Chris and Sue Drda, and his neighbors, Gene and Judy Hartman and Mike and Ann Gordon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:30 pm in the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, with Rev. Thomas J. Rozman, his Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery . A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St. , Steelton.
