John V. Pensiero


John V. Pensiero, 80, of Susquehanna Twp., died Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Harrisburg Hospital .

John was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School and LaSalle College , both of Philadelphia , an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and Assistant Director of Enforcement for the PA Liquor Control Board. He was a former Commissioner for the Ninth Ward of Susquehanna Twp. and a Philadelphia Mummer.

He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Penbrook, Rev. Msgr. George V. Lentocha Council 3501 Knights of Columbus, Middletown , the Police Chiefs Assn. of Southeastern PA, Steelton Italian Club, Hershey Italian Lodge, Penbrook American Legion, OCS Signal Corps, Past President and Life Member of Fraternal Order of Police, and Past President and Lifetime Member of Crime Clinic of Greater Harrisburg. He was an avid baseball fan, loved the Eagles, Flyers and his grandchildren, and was a season ticket holder for the Senators on City Island .

John was a giver and those he helped reaches far beyond his immediate family. His family and friends will miss his honesty, generosity, love and support.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Paolone Pensiero; two sons, Frank A. Pensiero of Bressler and John J. Pensiero and his wife, Sandie of Susquehanna Twp.; one sister, Gloria Sintetos of Silver Spring, MD; two grandchildren, Max and Joseph Pensiero; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and Ben Pensiero and two sisters, Nancy Byrne and Marie Hindson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 12 Noon in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Penbrook with Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell, his pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12 Noon in his church. Arrangements are being handled by Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, Harrisburg .
