George J. Hanzel, 60, of Enola, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 in Holy Spirit Hospital ER.

He was a retired bartender and guard at the Enola Sportsmen Assn. He was a member of American Legion Post 420 S.A.L., Steelton and the Enola Sportsmen Assn.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a great lover of the outdoors.

George was the son of the late John and Mary Frantz Hanzel and is survived by his wife, Jill L. Heckman Hanzel; two sisters, Edie A. Carrillo and her husband, Bob of Fairview Twp. and Deb M. Meas and her husband, Jim of Newport; numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by one brother, John G. Hanzel. He will be sadly missed by his two special pets, Pugsley and Spankey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11:00 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church , Steelton with Rev. Harold S. Fox, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery , Oberlin. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St . , Steelton.
