Laverne A. Conrad Gales, 78, of Bressler, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital .

She was a retired seamstress for Buckwalter Draperies, Lemoyne and a former clerk at Miller's Department Store, Harrisburg and a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton.

Laverne was an avid reader and loved her family. She was the daughter of late Loin C. and Agnes P. Sanker Conrad and the widow of Joseph W. Gales.

She is survived by one son, Joseph E. Gales and his wife, Christine of Harrisburg; four daughters, Anna Margaret Gales of Harrisburg, Therese Goudy and her husband, William of Marysville, Agnes Zapcic and her husband, Jim of Steelton and Carole Radosinovich and her husband, Mike of Harrisburg; two brothers, Richard Conrad of Carlisle and Ted Conrad of Harrisburg; three sisters, Jean Lanshe of Tallmadge, OH, Ida Beistline of Harrisburg and Agnes Simmers of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren, Allison, Daniel, David, Elizabeth, Gage, Jennifer, Keith, McKalen, Michael and Nate; 16 great grandchildren; and her furry friend, “Maggie Mae”. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and William Conrad.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons, her pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery . A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 So. Second St . , Steelton.
