Arthur H. Belmont, Sr., 87, of Bayse , VA and formerly of Steelton and Harrisburg , died Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital , Woodstock , VA.

He was the retired owner and operator of Artie's Tavern in Harrisburg , a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 420 and the Steelton Italian Club. He was a former member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Steelton.

Artie was the son of the late Charles and Catherine Magaro Belmont and the widower of June Elizabeth Belmont. He is survived by one son, Arthur H. Belmont, Jr. of Port Richey, FL; three daughters, Carlotta Lilly, with whom he resided, Susan Goudy of Halifax and Nancy Via of Enola; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two aunts, Jeanette Barbush of Harrisburg and Virginia Galati of Middletown.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery . There will be no viewing or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.
